OXNARD : Woman Arrested in Ohio Drug Ring

An Oxnard woman has been arrested by federal agents on drug charges in connection with a Columbus, Ohio, cocaine and heroin distribution ring, the FBI announced Wednesday.
Inez Caldwell, 52, was arrested without incident at her Seabreeze Way home on Tuesday, said Charlie J. Parsons, special agent in charge of the Los Angeles FBI office.
Caldwell was charged with intent to distribute heroin, interstate travel in aid of racketeering, use of a communications facility to further a narcotics conspiracy and conspiracy, Parsons said.
The heroin charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $4-million fine, said D. Michael Crites, a U.S. attorney for the southern district of Ohio, who headed the investigation.
Caldwell is being held without bail at Ventura County Jail, pending arraignment before a U.S. judge in Santa Barbara, Parsons said.
The indictment alleges that Caldwell assisted in the distribution of at least 100 grams of heroin that was transported in spare tires from Los Angeles to Atlanta, and from there to Columbus.
