Authorities are seeking a mentally handicapped man who has been missing since Saturday morning when he left home to collect aluminum cans.
Miguel Angel Rivera, 24, has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old, according to his brother, Juan Rivera.
Juan Rivera told authorities that his brother routinely goes around their apartment complex at 25212 Stockport Drive to collect aluminum cans, sheriff’s Lt. Richard Olson said.
A Sheriff’s Department bloodhound on Sunday traced the missing man’s scent to a bus stop at Stockport and Paseo de Valencia, Olson said. Witnesses had seen him board a bus that was heading to the bus terminal in Santa Ana.
Authorities believe Rivera may still be in Santa Ana. He is 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, and has brown eyes, black hair, a beard and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a beige polo shirt, dark pants and brown boots.
