An early-morning fire at an East County residence Friday caused an estimated $300,000 damage to the contents of a garage, including classic cars, antiques and motorcycles, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 5 a.m. at the Cross Ranch, 1390 Harris Ranch Road in Potrero, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The owner of the ranch, William Cross, 47, told authorities that the garage contained eight classic vehicles, including a 1957 Ford station wagon and a 1968 soft-top SS Camaro. The garage, which was used for repair and salvage work, also contained nine motorcycles, a tow truck, two other vehicles and antiques.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
