Harvard-Westlake Pays Price for Loss in Water Polo Match

After dropping a 10-9 decision to La Serna High on Saturday in the championship match of the La Serna water polo tournament, Harvard-Westlake did not just dry off and board the bus for the trip back home.
Instead, Coach Rich Corso put his Wolverines through a rigorous 20-minute workout in the pool.
“I told them Sept. 28 is not the finals of CIF,” Corso said. “We would have liked to win this tournament, like we won the Millikan tournament, but our main goal is to win the (Southern Section 3-A Division title).”
Jim Toring scored three goals in the championship match for Harvard-Westlake (11-1), ranked second in the 3-A Division. La Serna is the top-ranked team.
Mark Townsend scored three goals in the Wolverines’ 12-6 semifinal win over Walnut.
