B: QUARTERBACKS
Morning bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-5 moves faster than John Friesz, but he scrambles for first down. One look at Jay Schroeder, and Friesz doesn’t look so bad.
A: RUNNING BACKS
Howie Long talks a good game, but if he took a pounding from Marion Butts and Rod Bernstine every week, he’d get knocked senseless, and end up sounding like Chet Forte.
D: RECEIVERS
Hollywood producers have begun bidding for the Anthony Miller story, a Freddy Krueger sequel entitled: “Look Ma, No Hands.” Kitrick Taylor catches one pass. One more than Miller.C: OFFENSIVE LINE
Defenders have tougher time pushing through smog than getting through these guys in passing situations. Broderick Thompson has as many penalties as Miller has dropped passes.
B: DEFENSIVE LINE
Talk about the cutback in short-range arms, without Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson Raiders are punchless. Joe Phillips reminds everyone why 49ers dumped Roger Craig.
A: LINEBACKERS
One might suggest a 100-yard match race between John Friesz and Henry Rolling, but there aren’t enough hours in the day to give them time to finish.
C: DEFENSIVE BACKS
How can anyone look bad while defending passes thrown by Schroeder? Well, Stanley Richard is looking for receivers in all the wrong places, and Gill Byrd struggles.
A: SPECIAL TEAMS
Raider special teams look like they’re coached by someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing. Donnie Elder play at goal line on John Kidd punt clears the Coliseum.
A: COACHING
Who’s worried about job security? Just how many wins do you think it will take to secure home-field advantage for the playoffs?
