GREEN ACRES: The Irvine Co. it’s not, but county government turns out to be one of the highest rollers in the local real estate market. . . . A new report, to be delivered to supervisors today, details Orange County’s sizable holdings, which include more than 27,000 acres. Much of that property is vacant, but some is leased, allowing the county to make $51 million a year. Said one official: “Most people don’t know it, but the county is a major player in the real estate market in Orange County.”
