Judge Thomas’ Confirmation

Thomas has been confirmed. I have supported him wholeheartedly since his nomination. But, alas, Oct. 15 was no day of triumph. The entire confirmation process, particularly as played out over the weekend, has to be one of the most disgustingly shameful chapters in recent Senate history. Thomas will distinguish himself as a jurist; I have no doubt about that. It is that fraternity of self-anointed custodians of morality, Democratic Sens. Edward Kennedy, Joseph Biden, et al., who give me serious cause to worry.
