An Irvine parent-teacher group will hold a candidates forum on Oct. 29 to let voters hear the views of the eight contenders running for seats on the Irvine Unified School District board.
Three of five board seats will be filled by the Nov. 5 election. The school board sets policy for the 30-school district.
The Irvine Unified Council PTA, an association of 24 school PTAs, will conduct the forum from 7 to 8 p.m. at the district office, 5050 Barranca Parkway in Irvine.
Candidates will give brief opening statements and then field questions from the audience and callers viewing the forum on Irvine cable Channel 3, said Joyce Barbuto, president of the PTA council. Residents can submit early questions by calling Barbuto at (714) 786-2653.
Running for the three open seats are two incumbents, Mary Ellen Hadley and Michael B. Regele, and Genovica Niculescu-Balteanu, Thomas J. Burnham, William M. Dunkelberger, George M. Gallagher, William P. Long and Annita A. Sharpe.
