PREP ROUNDUP : El Toro Wins, Makes Up for Lost Times
El Toro scored a convincing, 15-11, 15-9, 13-15, 15-7 victory over Capistrano Valley--a team it had lost to in two previous matches--Thursday night in South Coast League girls’ volleyball at Capistrano Valley.
The Chargers (15-3, 7-1 in league and ranked sixth in Southern Section Division 5-A) dominated by taking advantage of the poor passing and serving of the Cougars (12-4, 7-1 and ranked fourth).
“We didn’t even come close to our game plan tonight,” Capistrano Valley Coach John Gipe said.
Said El Toro Coach Mike Jagd: “I coach for the end of the season, and coming off a big win like this, I don’t think we could be in a better position right now.”
Jamie Smith led El Toro with 16 kills, and Kira Kneitel added 12 kills and four aces. Tobi Roquemore led Capistrano Valley with 19 kills.
