Fans Get Irish Up About USC

I still have confidence in Larry Smith’s coaching ability. However, Smith’s comment that he isn’t obsessed with beating Notre Dame made me wonder if he is ruining a proud rivalry. Judging by his record against the Irish, Smith ought to be obsessed.

As an alumnus, this game is important to me, and I’m tired of watching USC lose.

So, Larry, even if you don’t make the Notre Dame game a high priority, many alums still do. And if you take such an indifferent attitude toward the rivalry, then maybe you should find a job elsewhere and leave the USC coaching job to someone who understands the significance of beating Notre Dame.
