NHL ROUNDUP : Casey Signs Pact, Beats Maple Leafs

Jon Casey ended a bitter contract dispute by signing a four-year deal for $3.8 million Tuesday with the Minnesota North Stars.
Casey celebrated by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-0, at Bloomington, Minn.
Brian Propp and Mike Craig each scored twice.
New Jersey 5, Philadelphia 2--Claude Vilgrain scored twice and the Devils improved the best home record in the NHL to 7-1. The Devils’ Chris Terreri stopped 36 shots.
Hartford 5, Quebec 4--The Whalers won when Marc Bergevin scored with 5:29 to play at Hartford. It was only the second time in the last 10 games that the Whalers have beaten Quebec.
Detroit 5, Calgary 4--Ray Sheppard completed a hat trick at 3:36 of overtime at Calgary to give the Red Wings the victory.
Buffalo 7, San Jose 1--Pat LaFontaine had a hat trick at San Jose, spoiling the Sharks’ hopes of winning their third game in a row. LaFontaine, traded to the Sabres last month, had scored only two goals for the Sabres.
