Glendale : Upgrading of Railroad Area

The City Council on Tuesday designated a survey area for a proposed redevelopment zone in the industrial area along San Fernando Road and the Southern Pacific Railroad.
The 809-acre corridor includes portions of Allen Avenue, Broadway, Colorado and Tyburn streets and the Ventura and Golden State freeways. The designation is the first step toward creating a redevelopment zone to upgrade the area and install mass transit.
About 65% of the area is office and industrial, 13% is commercial, and 22% is residential. The residential area is primarily west of Pacific Avenue between Wilson Avenue and Los Feliz Road and includes 561 houses, 200 duplexes and 465 multifamily dwellings.
