Torrance Advances to Semifinals in Girls’ Volleyball

Torrance High, the last South Bay team remaining in the Southern Section girls’ volleyball playoffs, will play top-seeded La Habra in the 3-A Division semifinals at 7 tonight at South Torrance High.
The Pioneer League champion Tartars (16-1) advanced with a 15-4, 15-11, 9-15, 15-7 victory over Canyon of Canyon Country Tuesday night. Setter/middle blocker Suzanne Radcliffe and back-row specialist Tiffany Fujimoto played strong matches for Torrance, which is coached by Marie Anderson.
La Habra (19-2), the Freeway League champion, reached the semifinals with a 15-9, 15-5, 15-1 victory over Don Lugo of Chino.
Tonight’s winner advances to the final Saturday at Cerritos College.
