The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program has offered a $1,000 reward for help in identifying a robber who attacked two elderly women in the Thousand Oaks area recently.
An 84-year-old woman was pushed to the ground by an assailant Nov. 22 as she unlocked the door of her Avenida de las Flores condominium. The woman was frightened but not hurt.
The suspect reportedly grabbed the woman’s purse and fled in an older, full-sized brown van.
Five days later, an 80-year-old woman returning from the bank to her McCloud Street apartment was confronted by a man as she waited for the elevator.
The man snatched her purse from her shoulder, causing her to fall and break her arm. Among the items taken were a 1930 Gifford High School class ring and a dinner ring with 12 diamonds surrounding a large stone.
Both victims described the suspect as about 5 feet, 6 inches in height with a medium to chubby build.
Crime Stoppers can be contacted by calling 494-TALK, 986-TALK, 987-TALK or 526-9400.
