Jerry Warren, now editor of the San Diego Union, has been named editor of the combined San Diego Union-Tribune, which will begin publishing Feb. 2, the Union Tribune Publishing Co. said Wednesday. The company recently announced the merger of the morning Union and the evening San Diego Tribune.
Doug Hope, now deputy managing editor of the Union, was name managing editor of the merged publication.
Tribune Editor Neil Morgan was named associate editor and senior columnist, the company said. Executive editor will be Karin Winner, now the Union’s managing editor. Tribune Deputy Editor Bob Witty was named associate editor in charge of editorial and opinion sections.
