UNRUFFLED JUDGE: For three years, prosecutors have fought Judge Robert R. Fitzgerald’s decision to free Sheryl Lynn Massip, convicted of murder for running over her 6-week-old baby with the family car. The judge ruled that she was temporarily insane at the time. Now a state Supreme Court decision on mental disorder cases makes a retrial possible (A3). . . . “Nothing surprises me anymore,” Fitzgerald said of the high court ruling. The judge opined that if prosecutors continue to pursue it, “she could end up in prison.”
