County Panel Asked to Assist Canyon High

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday asked the county Human Relations Commission to assist Canyon High School in determining ways to address the recent stabbing on the campus.
In requesting the commissioners’ assistance, Supervisor Mike Antonovich said their “experience and expertise in dealing with conflicts would be of great benefit to the school administration and students.”
A 16-year-old student, Pat Butterfield, was stabbed in the abdomen and hand two weeks ago after he argued with another 16-year-old student, who has been charged with attempted murder.
Some parents have suggested that the stabbing resulted from racial tensions at the Santa Clarita school.
