Holiday music, theater and children’s programs are scheduled through New Year’s. Here are some of the remaining holiday events in North County:
FOR KIDS
Ho Ho Hot Line: (Through Friday, 9-11 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.): Children can phone 1-800-564-4ELF and tell Santa or Mrs. Claus what they would like for Christmas. The hot line is manned by residents of the Courtyard Retirement Community in San Marcos, who have been trained for their “elfin” roles.
Breakfast With Santa: (Saturday, 9-11 a.m., Escondido Elks Lodge, 315 W. Washington Ave.): The city of Escondido Parks and Recreation Department, the Elks Lodge and the Escondido Soroptimists are co-sponsoring this breakfast for children 10 and younger and their parents. Tickets are $2 per person and can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Department, 201 N. Broadway.
Winter Wonderland Camp: (December, Glen Park Scout House, 2149 Orinda Drive, Cardiff): A holiday day camp for kids ages 5-12 features field trips, music, crafts and games with a holiday theme. Cost is $60 a week for kids who participate 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $70 a week for kids who participate in extended care from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Call 944-3380.
Little Elves Camp: (Monday through Jan. 3, The Barn, 149 E. San Marcos Blvd., San Marcos): A holiday day camp for kids ages 6-12 featuring Christmas crafts and a field trip to the zoo is being sponsored by the San Marcos Community Services Department. Cost is $9.50 a day. Call 744-1050.
Holiday Cooking Workshop: (Monday, 2-4 p.m., La Colonia Park Community Center, 715 Valley Ave., Solana Beach): Elementary school children are invited to bake, make candy and construct a gingerbread house, among other craft activities. Kids get to eat everything they make. Cost is $2 per child. Call 793-2564.
New Year’s Eve at Disneyland: (Dec. 31-Jan. 1, 6 p.m.-3:30 a.m.): An overnight trip for 13- to 18-year-olds is being sponsored by the Poway Teen Council. Bus leaves Community Park, 13094 Bowron Road, Poway, at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and returns about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 1. Cost is $40 for residents of Poway and $60 for non-residents. Call 748-1892.
