The California Highway Patrol made 14 arrests in Ventura County for driving under the influence of alcohol over the New Year’s Day holiday, CHP spokesman Jim Utter said Thursday.
The holiday period extended from 6 p.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday, he said.
Last year, during the four-day New Year’s Eve holiday period, there were 54 DUI arrests, Utter said.
A typical Saturday night produces about eight to 10 DUI arrests, he said.
