BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Curto’s 46 Lead Liberty Christian to 87-69 Victory

Toby Curto, the leading scorer in Orange County, scored a career-high 46 points as Liberty Christian defeated California Lutheran, 87-69, in an Academy League boys’ basketball game Tuesday at California Lutheran.
Curto, who is averaging 24.9 points a game, scored 15 of his team’s 24 in the first quarter. Teammate Dave Kellams added 26 points for Liberty Christian (10-5, 2-1 in league).
Matt Krug had 26 points for California Lutheran (7-3, 0-1).
In another Academy League game:
St. Michael’s Prep 85, Heritage Christian 68--Senior Jocques Wright had 38 points, 26 rebounds and six assists for host St. Michael’s (6-8, 1-1 in league).
Teammate Jon Grobler added 27 points. Wright had 18 points in the third quarter when the Pioneers outscored Heritage Christian, 26-18. Heritage Christian is 6-4, 0-1.
In the Arrowhead League:
Calvary Chapel 74, La Sierra Academy 56--Jacob Guild had 18 points and 17 rebounds for Calvary Chapel (12-4, 5-0 in Arrowhead League). La Sierra is 9-6, 4-1.
In the Olympic League:
Brethren Christian 69, Ayala 41--Chiron Hart scored 18 points, including three three-pointers, for Brethren Christian. Teammate Michael McDaniel scored 14 points and had eight rebounds.
Village Christian 75, Orange Lutheran 67--Jeff Courvoisier scored 19 points for visiting Orange Lutheran (7-10, 3-2). Dan Hibma scored 22 points for Village Christian (6-8, 3-2).
