Autopsy results show that Thomas Eric Curry, 20, a walk-on Georgia football player who died Jan. 16, had an undetected arterial birth defect that restricted blood flow to his heart. Curry, 20, collapsed Jan. 15 after his first workout--a light conditioning drill--and never regained consciousness. He died the next evening.
A doctor said Curry’s condition could not have been detected during a routine physical examination. Curry had passed a mandatory school-administered physical before beginning workouts.
