Former Orange basketball Coach Ed Graham says there are similarities between coaching and being a city councilman.
Graham received the fourth-highest vote total among 20 candidates in November when Chino Hills, a city of 43,000, became incorporated and held its first municipal election.
Graham, who is serving a three-year term, is also chairman of the city’s planning commission. He generally meets with civic leaders three or four times a week.
“A councilman is just like a coach, except I’m working with adults instead of kids,” Graham said. “Right now, we’re negotiating with the Sheriff’s Department of San Bernardino to provide police service to the city.”
