The Dead Zone (TMC Tuesday at 10 a.m., again at 10 p.m.) Adapted from a Stephen King novel, this 1983 release is an astonishingly effective thriller of the supernatural, which emerges as a Christ parable. Christopher Walken stars as a victim of a traffic accident who awakens from a five-year coma with second sight, or precognition.
Love in the City (Bravo Tuesday at 5 p.m., again at 11 p.m.) Notable, entertaining six-episode 1954 Italian film set in Rome and featuring segments directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and Federico Fellini.
The Southerner (KDOC Saturday at noon). One of Jean Renoir’s finest Hollywood films, a compassionate 1945 study of a young farmer and his family’s struggle for survival. The poetic but realistic drama afforded the usually debonair Zachary Scott the finest role of his career.
