Phillips Petroleum to Lop Off 1,100 Jobs: The company said the cuts are a cost-cutting move. They will affect 850 employees and 100 contract personnel at the company’s headquarters in Bartlesville, Okla., where it employs 5,200. About 150 employees at the Houston office and several field locations also will be laid off. The company employs 22,500 worldwide. Phillips, the nation’s 11th-largest oil company, said the reductions will save $150 million.
