NEWPORT BEACH : Fire Destroys Offices of Engineering Firm
- Share via
A two-alarm fire destroyed an office suite in a two-story building Monday night, Newport Beach fire officials said Tuesday.
The blaze, which began in the second-floor suite of Rodriguez Engineers, erupted into a fireball that ripped through the office in the 1600 block of West Coast Highway. Flames billowed from the windows but were contained to the office and extinguished by firefighters in about 25 minutes.
There were no injuries, Fire Capt. Ray Pendleton said. Investigators believe that the fire ignited when a blueprint machine malfunctioned, he said.
Officials estimated structural damage at $20,000, and there were undetermined costs for other items in the office, which was gutted.
