Big West Cites Titans Jackson, Ward, Bowen

LONG BEACH — Cal State Fullerton placed forward Claudette Jackson on the women’s All-Big West Conference first team and forwards Agee Ward and Bruce Bowen on the men’s second team in voting by the conference coaches announced at the conference tournament.
Fullerton center Kisa Hughes was named women’s freshman of the year and was joined on the all-freshman team by teammate Lianne Ishikawa.
Cal State Long Beach center Chris Tower, a former Westminster High standout, was an honorable mention choice on the men’s team. UC Irvine did not place a player on either the men’s or women’s teams.
UC Santa Barbara forward Lucious Davis was named men’s player of the year and teammate Doug Muse was the freshman of the year. Santa Barbara’s Jerry Pimm and Jerry Tarkanian of Nevada Las Vegas shared coach of the year honors.
Santa Barbara took the other two women’s awards, with Barbara Beainy taking player of the year and Mark French coach of the year.
