San Marino : Rides for Seniors, Disabled
Foothill Area Community Services of Pasadena will provide transportation for senior citizens and disabled residents to doctors’ appointments under a contract approved Wednesday by the City Council.
A letter from an elderly resident prompted the action, officials said, because the Dial-A-Ride service now available in the city travels only in the San Marino and Pasadena area.
Some residents must go to medical centers in Arcadia or Duarte, and the new service, whose staff is specially trained to assist disabled passengers, can provide it, said Deborah Bell, assistant city manager.
Beginning Monday, disabled residents and senior citizens can call (818) 794-0992 for pickups, which must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
