Coping With the Deficit
In response to your March 24 editorial, “How Long Can We Make the Payments?”
There are many, myself included, who have noticed the lack of comment by candidates, Congress and the President on our monstrous national debt, which severely hobbles our economy. Are the voters blind, or do our national leaders simply think we are, to the fact that it is the deficit which is slowing economic growth and putting more and more jobs into jeopardy and that tax cuts for the middle class have no real long-term value?
Is anyone else as insulted as I am by the superficial, self-serving, political song and dance of our national leaders fixated on partisan politics and reelection instead of substantive issues? For these reasons I called H. Ross Perot’s 800 number to support his bid for the presidency. Reducing the budget deficit is not just one of his issues but his primary issue.
