CALABASAS : Hiker Critically Injured in Fall
A hiker suffered serious head injuries and a broken wrist when he fell more than 100 feet down a narrow canyon at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas on Monday night, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
The hiker, identified as Sean Cantalupo, 20, of Malibu, was transported by a Fire Department helicopter to Westlake Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The man was hiking when he slipped and fell into the canyon and struck rocks at the bottom, fire officials said. A sheriff’s rescue team was also sent to the scene.
