CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Robbins Sentencing Delayed by ‘Glitch’
Former state Sen. Alan Robbins’ sentencing has been postponed until May 1 because of what his attorney called a “procedural glitch that came up at the 11th hour.” Assistant U. S. Atty. John Vincent said the delay related to the sentencing arrangements for Robbins, a Van Nuys Democrat who resigned from the Legislature last year and pleaded guilty to racketeering and income tax charges. Vincent declined to elaborate. “Don’t read anything into it,” Michael Lipman, Robbins’ attorney, said of the delay. “The deal has not fallen through.” Robbins is cooperating with investigators in an investigation of California political figures.
