Four Arizona State basketball players have each been sentenced to two years’ probation and 100 hours of community service for the fraudulent use of a university telephone credit card.

Senior guard Lynn Collins, sophomore guard Stevin Smith and sophomore forwards Dwayne Fontana and Jamal Faulkner pleaded guilty last month to felonies and could have been sentenced to prison.

They were suspended for varying numbers of games in November after school officials reported the incident to the NCAA.

According to the university’s report, the four players, their girlfriends and other acquaintances charged $13,474 to the card number between August, 1990, and September, 1991.
