California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Computer Glitch Delays Lottery Game
- Share via
A new daily lottery game delayed this week by a computer glitch will begin Monday, California State Lottery officials said. In “Daily 3,” players choose three numbers between zero and nine and select a playing style--straight, box or combination. In straight style, players who pick numbers correctly in the order they are drawn win $500. The odds are 1 in 1,000. In the box option, matching the numbers in any order wins $80. Odds are 1 in 167. By playing the two styles in combination with the same $1 bet, players have a chance to win $40 to $330. The odds vary. The glitch in the game was in the computer-run quick-pick feature, which until corrected would not have produced numbers picked at random, officials said.
