Democrats’ Pelosi Named to Party Post

SAN FRANCISCO — Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) has been named co-chairman of the Democratic Party’s national platform committee, party officials said.
Pelosi, 52, who was named to the post late Tuesday, replaces Rep. Mary Rose Okar of Ohio. Pelosi headed the California Democratic Party and fund-raising efforts for Democratic U.S. Senate candidates before she was elected to Congress in 1987.
