SIMI VALLEY : Recycling Program Honors 4 Companies
Four Simi Valley businesses have been honored by the city for their efforts in recycling and waste reduction as part of the WasteWatch ’92 Award program.
Mayor Greg Stratton presented plaques to representatives of the businesses at Monday’s City Council meeting. The award winners will also be recognized May 1 and 2 at Ventura County Earth Day 1992 activities at Thousand Oaks Community Park.
The award program was sponsored by the city and the Ventura Countywide Recycling Consortium to showcase businesses and nonprofit groups that are managing their waste responsibly.
E.N.D., an automotive repair business, was honored for its acceptance of recyclable automotive products, including used motor oil, anti-freeze and vehicle batteries, at no cost to the public.
Stake Mill, which makes wooden survey and construction stakes, was recognized for an innovative manufacturing process that reduces lumber waste.
A third award went to Dataproducts Imaging Supplies Division for reusing waste and byproducts in manufacturing.
Metropolitan Life Insurance received an award for setting up efficient office procedures to reduce waste and reuse resources.
City officials said letters of commendation will be sent to five other local businesses: Lochburn Systems, Lullaby Diaper Service, L-W Athena, Radisson Hotel and Smart Line Genetics.
