The University of Washington men’s varsity eight defended its Windermere Cup title, beating the runner-up Lithuanian national team by nearly 13 seconds over the 2,000-meter course in Seattle.
An estimated 100,000 people watched the races on the Montlake Cut between Lake Washington and Lake Union’s Portage Bay.
The Washington men’s varsity crew finished in 5:48.67, while Lithuania came in at 6:01.48. Cambridge University was third at 6:07.66.
In the women’s race, Washington finished at 6:23.52, followed by Lithuania at 6:25.76 and Cambridge at 6:36.75.
