RIOT AFTERMATH : Groups Aiding Relief Efforts

Here is a list of some of the groups that are aiding relief efforts for victims
of last week’s rioting. Donations should be sent by check or money order. * American Red Cross Disaster Relief: 2700 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. 90057. 24-hour hot line: (213) 739-5200 . Monetary donations only. Specify “L.A. Emergency Fund.”
* Broadway Stores: Will take donations of food and clothing for First AME Church and Salvation Army at each of its 42 Southern California stores.
* Department of Children’s Services, 425 Shatto Place, L.A. 90020 . Funds collected will be applied to meet the immediate needs of children and families.
* Food Donations, (213) 234-3030 . The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, in conjunction with the Salvation Army and Red Cross, will distribute donated food.
* HEAL L.A., (213) 655-3728 . Volunteers are needed to help clean up the city.
* Humane Task Force, Vedanta Society of Southern Calif. , 1946 Vedanta Place, Hollywood 90068 . Cash donations are being requested for veterinary care for animals hurt or separated from owners.
* KJLH Radio, “L.A. Emergency” , 3847 Crenshaw Blvd., L.A. 90008 , (213) 299-5960 . Food and clothing are being accepted at the station.
* L.A. Food Fund, c/o MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger , 2940 Westwood Blvd. Suite 7, L.A. 90064 . Monetary donations only. Specify: “L.A. Food Fund.”
* Los Angeles Women’s Foundation, 6030 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. 90036 , (213) 938-9828 . Contributions may be sent to the foundation.
* Radio Korea, 2001 Olympic Blvd., L.A. , (213) 520-1300 . Food, clothing and monetary donations for Korean-American victims are being requested.

* Loyola Marymount University, 80th Street at Loyola Boulevard , Los Angeles 90045 , (310) 338-7616 . Donations of food, clothing, household items and money will be collected at the Associated Students office or Campus Ministry.
* Pepperdine University, 24255 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu 90265 , (310) 456-4270 . Food, clothing and monetary donations are being accepted at the Church Services office, Thornton Administrative Center, third floor.
* Santa Monica College, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica 90405 , (310) 452-9250 . Food and clothing donations will be received at the campus free speech center of the Associated Students office in Cayton Center.
* Santa Monica College, (310) 452-9395 . The Children’s Center at the Madison School site at 11th and Arizona is accepting donations of crayons, Play-Doh,paper and stuffed animals. Hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* UCLA, 301 Kerckhoff Hall , Gayley and Le Conte avenues , Los Angeles 90024 , (310) 206-8512 . Graduate Students Assn. will collect funds, baby formula, food (non-perishables) and other immediate essentials (toilet paper, diapers) for riot victims.
