Ambush: The Democratic Party, in an effort to identify and recruit the next generation of spin doctors, is spreading word to the country’s top film and TV schools that it will award a $5,000 cash prize for the student who produces “the best 30-second commercial that helps defeat George Bush and Dan Quayle in November.” The competition was the brainchild of Martha Diepenbrock, executive director of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. Second-place winners will get $500, third place $250. Winners would likely find a job waiting for them with the DNC and the possibility that their commercial could air on national TV, a spokesman said.
