Boeing Lays Off 833: The Boeing Co. said it laid off 833 of its workers late last week, the largest round of layoffs this year. Boeing plans to reduce its Seattle work force by 6,500 employees in 1992. With the Friday dismissals, more than 2,600 positions have been cut so far, with 1,154 layoffs, said company spokesman Russ Young. The remainder of the job reductions were accomplished through retirements and attrition, Young said. Before the latest cuts, Boeing employed approximately 102,700 people in the Puget Sound area and 150,200 worldwide.
