Cal State Fullerton’s baseball team ended its Big West Conference schedule Sunday with an 8-3 victory at San Jose State, but the race for first place has yet to be decided.
The Titans (38-15, 17-7 in conference) can do no worse than finish second. They will have to wait to see what Long Beach (16-5 in conference) does against UC Santa Barbara in three games that were postponed because of recent violence in the Los Angeles area.
Long Beach, which defeated Fresno State, 18-2, Sunday, plays host to UCSB for a single game Tuesday and a doubleheader Thursday. Fresno State finishes in third place at 16-8.
For the Titans, Jason Moler had a two-run single, Steve Sisco had a sacrifice fly and Frank Herman had an RBI single for four runs in the first inning Sunday.
Moler added an RBI double in the third as the Titans took a 5-2 lead.
Dan Naulty (10-3) pitched five innings for the victory and Chad Dembisky worked the final four innings for his second save.
In another Big West Conference game:
UC Santa Barbara 4, UC Irvine 2--Irvine scored in the first and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead, but UCSB rallied with three in the seventh and another in the eighth. The Anteaters finish at 23-27, 10-14.
