NEWPORT BEACH : Hospital Expansion Plan Gets City’s OK
Hoag Hospital’s master plan and 25-year development agreement won final unanimous approval from the City Council this week, setting the stage for a new round of public hearings on the controversial expansion plan.
The plan is scheduled to go before the California Coastal Commission this fall, and many residents supporting and opposing it are expected to voice their opinions.
The project, which has been discussed for years and was scrutinized by the city and residents during six months of public hearings, would double the size of the current facility and promises to keep Hoag Hospital at the forefront of medical care in Orange County.
Just a few core supporters and virtually no opponents attended the council’s meeting this week.
