Passage of Amendment F gives us the rare opportunity to apply our “checks and balances” system provided by the Constitution.
A chief of police hired via the civil service system is one step and too absolute a method. Instead, the mayor, the City Council, the Police Commission (to include citizen representation) will represent true democracy in action in the selection. It’s the role of government.
