PRINCIPLED FILIPINOS

In “The Philippine Election Circus” (by Bob Drogin, April 26), the emphasis is on the bad aspects of that country’s political system. I don’t question the validity of the story’s facts, but the author’s experience seems to have been limited to the few wealthy crooks. There are still honest, sincere people who have been ready to preserve--at the risk of their lives--their values, principles and right to vote, even during the dark days of the Marcos regime.
