Grub Moves On

In an article by Margo Pfeiff (“Australian Native Grub Smacks Of--Well, Grub,” Jan. 19), my former business, Rowntrees, the Australian restaurant, was mentioned. Pfeiff wrote of Rowntrees that “the country’s premier outback haute cuisine restaurant” had “closed its doors.” Rowntrees did indeed close its doors in June, 1991, but it may be of interest that I have opened (a new) restaurant.
Riberries (pronounced rye-berries) opened at 411 Bourke St., Darlinghurst, after Christmas, 1991, providing “Rowntrees cuisine” in the Sydney city area itself. The building is an example of early Australian convict-built sandstone architecture.
