FILLMORE : 5 Men Arrested on Heroin Charges

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies and Santa Paula police have arrested five men on suspicion of heroin trafficking in the Fillmore area.

The arrests Wednesday evening were the result of a two-week joint investigation into the sale and use of drugs in the area, authorities said.

Adolfo Diaz, 43, and Ricardo Tellez, 21, both of Fillmore were booked on suspicion of dealing heroin, police said. They were being held in Ventura County Jail on Thursday on $100,000 bail each. If convicted, they could face up to five years in state prison.

Freddie Hernandez, 35, of Santa Paula was booked on suspicion of possession of heroin and being under its influence, authorities said. He was being held without bail due to a prior parole violation.

Carlos Zuniga, 37, of Fillmore was booked on suspicion of heroin possession, being under the influence of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ronald Herrera, 42, of Fillmore was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of heroin.

Zuniga and Herrera are being held on $5,000 bail, police said, and along with Hernandez could face up to one year in County Jail for each count against them.

A search of Diaz and Tellez’s Fillmore home turned up one gram of heroin packaged for sale, a loaded handgun and nearly $5,000 in cash, police said. The heroin has a street value of about $250, police said.

All five men were scheduled to be arraigned today.
