* Federal Express Corp. reported slightly higher fourth-quarter earnings Monday, but said it lost $113.8 million during fiscal 1992, the overnight delivery company’s first full-year loss since 1987.
The loss in the year ended May 31 amounted to $2.11 a share and was due primarily to the company’s troubled attempt to expand its air-cargo deliveries abroad.
The shortfall contrasted with 1991 earnings of $5.9 million, or 11 cents a share. Federal Express reported full-year revenue of $7.5 billion, compared to $7.7 billion a year earlier.
The company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $35.8 million, or 66 cents a share, compared to income of $31 million, or 58 cents a share, for the same period the previous year.
Revenue fell to $1.89 billion from $1.91 billion.
