Bush Quotes

After reading yet another L.A. Times poll (July 19) asking whether Bill Clinton is “honest enough for the White House,” I pulled out my Bush scrapbook.
Right there, on Page One, was “Read my lips: no new taxes.” Other prominent entries: “We did not trade arms for hostages.” “We never provided Saddam Hussein with a nuclear arsenal.” “I picked Clarence Thomas because he is the most qualified jurist in the country.” And my personal favorite: “There is no recession.”
How about a poll asking whether George Bush is “honest enough for the White House”?
