Charter Co. Completes Spelling Merger: The Charter Co. said it completed its merger with TV producer Spelling Entertainment Inc. by acquiring the 18% of the company it did not already own. The merger, which was originally announced last February, calls for Charter to issue one common share in exchange for each share of Spelling. Charter is 53%-owned by Cincinnati-based American Financial Corp., which is controlled by the Carl H. Lindner family.
