WRONG MESSAGE? The R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.’s anti-smoking campaign for teen-agers has been assailed for not talking about the health hazards of smoking (E1). Critics recommend instead some local programs for teens that do talk about the dangers. Such as: the American Cancer Society’s local chapter sends to schools cancer patients who lost their larynx because of smoking and must talk by machine. “That really gets students’ attention,” says the chapter’s Theresa Riss.
