SIMI VALLEY : 21 Youths Sought for Council
Applications are available for residents ages 13 to 19 who want to serve on the 21-member Simi Valley Youth Council.
Seven members of the Youth Council will be selected to represent each of the city’s public high schools and junior highs. The remaining members will be chosen at large.
The panel reviews youth concerns and makes recommendations to the City Council on how they can be addressed. The youth council meets for one hour on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. One member of the advisory group is invited to attend a City Council meeting once each month to speak about Youth Council projects. New appointees, who must be confirmed by the City Council, will serve a one-year term beginning Nov. 1.
Applications are available at the city’s Development Services Building, 3855-A Alamo St; the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road; and at local junior and senior high schools. The forms must be returned to the Development Services Building by Sept. 30.
