More Oil Being Pumped from Gulf of Mexico: Oil producers recovering from Hurricane Andrew restored an additional 50,000 barrels of daily oil output from the Gulf of Mexico since Thursday, said a government agency that monitors gulf production. The gain raises daily output to between 71% and 75% of pre-storm production--from between 64% and 68% on Thursday--according to figures released by the Minerals Management Service, an arm of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The 3,900 oil and gas platforms in the gulf produced about 750,000 barrels of oil a day before Andrew, the agency said. In a statement, Scott Sewell, director of Minerals Management Service, said damage from Hurricane Andrew could cost producers more than $200 million.
